Ok I know it’s a bit early to be blogging but I’m sat in my (hubbie calls it vile and unflattering) dressing gown having my morning cuppa and reflecting on the day ahead.
Life post fifty (I mean for gods sake it was only October) has felt quite challenging but am I focusing more on a number and linking it to everything that happens.
- Feel tired – it’s the menopause (not that I’ve just worked a 15 hour day).
- Can’t stop crying at John Lewis advert – it’s the menopause (not just I’m a pathetic softie)
- Get drunk after two glasses of wine – it’s the menopause (not just they were half pint glasses)
And so on….
You get my drift! Have you all experienced the same thing?
Have a great Monday.

It’s a shocking side-effect of the menopause when you realise that you’ve become a lightweight when it comes to drinking/ One thimble of sherry and you’re in a coma. On the plus side, your liver will thank you for it. 😉

I know and I’ve actually stopped drinking for the last 28 days (not that I’m counting) to try and navigate my way forward through the fog! As the ultimate party girl it was a shock but I have to say loving it so far!

Added perks of abstinece are nice skin and less baggage under the eyes. 🙂

Age is all relative! The lady who does my hair is the same age as my grand-daughter. I recently came across a photo of my Dad just after he turned 70. He was looking quite old. I am now older than he was then. Reality checks are an unfortunate aspect of our lives and, while I cannot relate to menopausal issues, I have a number of aging related conditions (keep taking the pills Colin) to remind me that the clock is ticking away and I had better adjust accordingly. 🙂

That’s very true! I always remember at school thinking that my Geography teacher was really old (she was 26). I suppose 50 just feels like a milestone and while I was forty something I felt more relevant. I’m sure it’s a mindset thing! I’m regaining my sense of humour thank goodness. Thanks for following me 🙂

Ah yes ………. a sense of humour is critical. Looking forward to your future Posts to see how you are adjusting to your new reality, and your Followers may be interested to read about you beyond your menopausal experiences … when you are comfortable doing so. 🙂

Have you had night sweats yet? Those are unbearable. And the weight gain stinks too. But the new reality is here and we have to just deal with it and know that you’re in good company! 🙂
